No, he means Straw Man (Literature). Not sure how he's a straw man per se, as he lacks a prior to base any kind of distortion from.

I might even dispute that he's that much of an exaggeration. Maybe this wasn't everyone's experience--and if not, I'm very happy for you--but trust me, there are any number of school administrators who openly believe that 1) bullying is a part of growing up and serves a useful socializing function, and 2) kids who are picked on for being "different" need to start acting normal, or they're just asking for it.I'll grant that he is exaggerated, but trust me I've known school administrators to say things that come to the exact same thing....
Jeremy and Felicia are antagonists, but they're believeable. People like them are actually pretty common, sadly...
I've known my share, and I know I'm not alone in it.
This kinda sorta reminds me of how children...and some adults are encouraged to embrace their own individuality and uniqueness, and when they do...they are slapped down for it. "Oh...your the weird one...the non-conformist"
uhg...society is a joke.

It's funny,
in cartoons, it seems that the football players can always get away with anything.

*raises hand* Right here. I saw a lot of that go on when I was in High School. It was especially disenchating to see how some genuinely good people were looked upon after the Columbine shootings simply because of how they dressed. It sure did suck to go to High School during that time. Not to mention I had to hear the "be more normal" jazz from my Dad all the time....strangely enough, even though I'm two weeks away from graduating college, I still hear it from him.2) kids who are picked on for being "different" need to start acting normal, or they're just asking for it.

How can they expect kids to respect other cultures and so forth if they teach them they can't be unique themselves? I can imagine the child brainwashed by the pressure to conform will wonder why the "lady with the dot on her head can't be more normal," or why "that guy is eating with sticks, can't he eat with a fork like a normal person?" Seriously, where do you draw the line with that mentality?
No, not just in cartoons. This is sadly very much based in reality. I could cite a recent news story involving two local high schools to prove it. Not to mention, at my current college, there is a GREAT need for more parking lots. But guess who got a brand new practice field? Football team.in cartoons, it seems that the football players can always get away with anything.

Well, any thin' like cartoons. In cartoons?
Comics, ect.
To Tabris:
That really doesn't surprise me. Schools sometimes depend on football teams to make them look good and sometimes they protect their best players from harm to protect their school (which is a load of bull).

You should try going to a football schoolIt's funny,
in cartoons, it seems that the football players can always get away with anything.
Virginia Tech, where football players have a graduation rate more than 20% below the university average, and they are applauded.
I got sick of not having a signature. Now if only I had anything to put in it...

That's what I meant by "inflation." Perhaps I should have phrased it as "more overt."If anything, Principal Vine says what the other principals mean but don't say.
