Which is inferior to the construct of "This nation's history is one of...", simply because of the repetition on history makes it odd to read. The gramatic structure of "This nation's is a history of..." just seems odd to me, somehow. I mean, I know it's perfectly valid grammar, but Yoda uses a perfectly valid grammatic structure.I believe its a shortened version of "this nation's history is a history"
And I'm fairly sure I'd personally choose "This nation has a history of..." (If I used "This nation" as opposed to "<insert nation I'm talking about here even if I'm talking about my own> has a history of..."
