How did you find the furry fandom?

How did you find the furry fandom?

Postby Muninn » Sun Apr 02, 2006 10:14 pm

Inspired by the "how did you find Ozy and millie" topic, how did you find furry comics, or furry fandom (if you're involved/interested in it)?

THE FOX AND THE HOUND! thats it! thats how i sarted my journey to furry fandom! lets see... then came all 3 balto movies... then i had a school project where i had to create a slide show about me... i looked up "foxes" and found this pic

I don't know how to answer the question. I've seen anthro entertainment since I can remember. "Sesame Street" has animal Muppets in it; would it be part of the "furry fandom"?

If you're talking about the community that specifically craves anthropomorphs in entertainment, I guess it started with my discovery of "Kevin & Kell" on the washingtonpost.com comic links. K&K has easy links to various comics, many of them anthro, including O&M.

What's the difference between anthro and furry and yiffy and anamilistic?

No one ever tells me these things. :?

I thought it was just liking animal stuff, but then there were all these words and people talking about it different and I got confused.

*is confused*

I'm kinda embarrased to say how I found the fandom.

On that point, it may be wise to get away from that end of the spectrum.

I'm going to have to agree with the "It found me" answer.

Starfox and Rocko's Modern Life had a lot to do with it, though.

I had no idea that it even existed until Ozy and Millie so I guess it started here-ish. After that I followed some site links.

What's the difference between anthro and furry and yiffy and anamilistic?
anthro is an animal with human-like features, usually including standing on two legs. furry is anything with fur, though it can also include less-hairy animals. yiffing is the sound that foxes make when mating...and is used to describe furry art and other media involving similar acts. Anamilistic (or, animalistic) is not a word as far as I know o.o
