We do, in various flashbacks... just off the top of my head, there are a few of when a much younger Llewellyn is unsuccessfully courting a unicorn lady, a little Ms. Mudd watching TV, and Ms. Mudd and Llewellyn at the time he introduces her to Locke.

The logical explanation - Most likely Llewellyn's and Ms. Mudd's backstory hadn't been refined when the PTA storyline happened, it WAS pretty early on in Ozy and Millie history after all.

We can sit here and think up how they knew eachother all day. I can't say for sure, but I doubt DC had things thought out this far ahead that early in the comic. Thankfully, there wasn't much interaction between them to make us think any different.
