Nose putty, I'm guessing, is another fun slang term for snot. I know I've heard the phrase mentioned in this strip before, but I don't remember where.
I just discovered this a few minutes ago; a friend of mine has the book -- I intend to get it too very soon, rest assured -- and I happened to notice the comment when I was visiting her room to see the fanart she did.After this ran, I had to explain to several people that nose putty is that stuff they use to make fake theatrical noses. At least one person assumed it was some kind of euphemism for snot.
Please don't take this for an ego thing. Anyone else who sees a similar reference to their own comment is free to use this same thread to mention it. Including Giz, who I think only mentioned it in chat and I've forgotten the specifics of it by now.
