DC is having problems. Big surprise, right?

It was another hacking incident, yes. The damage is not severe but we'll be undergoing maintenance for a while. Somewhat routine by now, perhaps. Feel free to enunciate your righteous indignation in this temporary forum.

There is probably no need to mention upgrading the forum or what-have-you. Everything that can be done is being done. Just be patient.

For the time being:
· No new registrations
· No sending of private messages. Also, if you have anything in your inbox/outbox that you want to save, copy it to your computer. Old messages may be deleted at any time without notice.

heh, actually in this case, it was one of the more intelligible hacks. Just turn off the boards! heck, better than replacing the text with russian, or images with a spinning bill nye head... granted, the bill nye thing was pretty funny....

Why do we keep getting hacked? I mean, what did we do?

Has someone got a grudge against Ozy and Millie or something?

probably not, probably either something against 1) furries, or 2) a forum that doesn't update the security protocals.....

*looks* whoa, lost my Mod status, it seems ^^;.

I don't think it'd be an anti-furry thing, nearly half the board are non-furries as far as I can tell.

Ouch. Well, I guess there's no sense in complaining anyway. I guess if there's a need to delete old PMs, I'd recommend any members go ahead and delete them themselves to save you the trouble.

Anyway, Likeafox, you have the rest of my contact info. I won't be available for much today, but I'll try to be on to help out tonight.

Edit: I already saved and emptied mine, so there's one less to handle.

Plus, even many of the nonfurs have furry like names, and icons, so.... well, thats what trolls are going to look for if thats what they seek.

Seems like more a situation of people doing stupid things on the internet . . . .

Oh, no no, it's not quite that complicated Tavis. What I meant to say is that I might have to discard the part of the database that stores the private messages. There is nothing meticulous about it, trust me. And that's a might discard it not a will discard it.

I'd rather have a clean, empty inbox so it doesn't get prematurely full. Why is it that the websites that get hacked the most are the ones that have done nothing wrong?

At least these people are attacking Define Cynical instead of the source.
