Somehow I think a board related to purely debating will cause needless tension and anger between members. Like others have said, if you want a forum for political/religious debate go to I Read This.

Well, technically, nothing's really stopping anyone from having a debate in here... The only thing that would really put it to a close would be intervention from staff if and when things get ugly.

The only way to find out is to have a failed debate, in fact, several failed debates. If no one bothers having a debate, then there's no debate for me to stop anyway.
