This... is hard to determine. I read a very interesting article on it (if I could find it again, I would certainly post it) that basically says the furry culture could not have originated from one group of people. The culture today is a conglomeration of many cultures, from the Egyptians to the spiritualness of the native americans, to the legends of the celts, to the first fursuiters the slavs (actually, they found the oldest furry mask in Poland, to my knowledge. It was used for ceremonies and later for alchemy, I think).
Regardless, we can't say who the *first* were either. At roughly the same time, we had the Egyptians worshipping gods like Horus, Anubis, and the cat cult (what was her name?), the Native Americans following spirit animals, and the Celts developing legends and myths about animals, all roughly the same time. I guess, if you really wanted to delve into it, one could find out what culture(s) was/were the first to do certain things. Perhaps that would work?

I'm gonna make an attempt in becoming apart of furry history by startingsomething called furology. It's like a study on it as a subculture and way of life. NOT..! To be confused with occultism. I just want to see if I can make a sort of understandable explanation on it. That way so that people don't make misconceptions of us.
