Here's an icon I created for use on LiveJournal and whatever else uses a 100x100 image. I cropped Millie from today's rerun which is from May 20th of 2001. I also airbrushed Ozy's hat out of the image because it interferred with the shot of Millie.
I tested the image with AIM and it accepts the image, and it doesn't look too bad shrunk down, so I probably don't need to create a separate image for AIM. I don't know what the size limits are for AIM and MSN, especially since I don't have MSN Messenger, so 100 x 100 is all I'm creating for now. It's a good size.

MSN avatar is 96x96, emoticon is 19x19, AIM buddy icon is 50x50 I think. "96 and 19? Why not simply 100 and 20?" I wonder to myself. Then I remember it's Microsoft. And I stop wondering.

Lovely av-a-tar. Millie's having one of her moments. Well keep in mind two things: One these numbers are squared so the space taken up is 9216 in stead of 10000 and 361 instead of 400. That with a lot of people having these icons they can eat up space prety quickly. Space is limited. Also why do they have to fit the numbers you think are normal? What's so special about 100 and 20 anyways besides both being multiples of 10. Or 20 for that matter. 10 isn't a very interesting number anyways. 20's more interesting at-least.

Well the 96x96 thing on messenger may be due to the sort of 'border' that is around the image, but why that would affect it, I don't really know. Yes, it's just microsoft =P

Anyway, I've been making a simple theme for my Ericsson t610 mobile:

It's best not to wonder too much about what Microsoft does. Just smile and nod.
my phone can display images too, but how on earth do you get custom images??? i have a sprint phone, since that does matter a bit. I've heared of custom ringer downloads, but never custom backgrounds.

I downloaded my icons to a Nokia by uploading them to the Geocities homepage and then using the phone's connectivity to download them straight from the URL of the image. It works because it's not a link from another website but rather a direct visit.
