You just have to look at it from the point of view of the Battlestar Galactica mythos; that is, "All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again." In other words, time is cyclic, so he's only copying himself. <br><br><span style='font-size:7pt;line-height:100%'>(Although, it can be argued whether it is actually himself or a chronologically similar entity completely seperate from his self. But that line of arguing only results in headaches.)</span>

As a matter of fact, they did. The executive producer pretty much admitted that in one of the podcast commentaries. They also stole the idea for using a quick barrage of scenes from the episode as a teaser from the old TV show "Space 1999".

The new one > the old one<br><br><br>But speaking of Space 1999, that show was really random. There were meant to be about 100 people on the base, but about 20 died each week. Where were they all comming from?
