Leaving for Lent

Atualy I think lent is more of a Jewish thing. I might be wrong thou.<br><br>Edit: But a lot of Christian do it as well.

No, it's definitely Christian. Lent covers the 40 days preceeding Maundy Thursday, the thursday immediately preceeding Easter Sunday. Easter, of course, being the Christian holiday celebrating the Ressurection of Jesus of Nazareth*, AKA Jesus Christ. Easter is linked somewhat with the Jewish Passover, not only in symbolism but also in the time of the year. (In languages other than German and English, the word for Easter is derived from Pesach, the Hebrew name for Passover.) However, it is definitely a Christian holiday, with its ties to Jesus of Nazareth and his Ressurection.<br><br><br>*Jesus of Nazareth is the name used outside of Christianity. The "Christ" in Jesus Christ is a rough translation of the Hebrew word "Messiah", meaning "anointed" and is only used in Christianity, along with capitalized pronouns.

It's not three months, it's 40 days if I remember correctly. Symbolic to the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert in seclusion.

Wtf is lent? <br><br>:EDIT: oh I remember now wait lent is not a christen thing it's only for cathloics I do thing prostents like luthran,methodist, ect celebrate it I am protsant myself and my prostent irish family does not celebrate it so I thing its a cathloic only thing.

oh thats right its a cathloic thing. now I remember. and NO Ruedii-X i was not thinking Passover. Every Christian in their right mind has does passover.<br>basicly it is the fasting of something for 40 days.<br>fasting = going with out and useing that time to focus on God.
