All you need is a very cheap microphone, one you can buy for five bucks at CompUSA or Best Buy or whattheheckever store you've got where you live. We found them "free after rebate" at OfficeMax, twice, so we have two. And as for recording software, all you need is Sound Recorder, which comes free with Windows. It can even save in MP3 format (see MandoAndy's tutorial in the "Impressions" thread...somewhere).

Hey all, I'm back. Thanks for the kind words regarding my dad, he had an angioplasty done on two arteries of his, and now he's back home and doing really well.

SO NOW, I should have some time to keep organizing this. Yes, I suppose it would be a good idea to write a little introduction for it. I'll get to that soon.

Ozymandias- If you have an English accent, that would work exceedingly well for Llewellyn!

I think someone back there asked if it's okay to link to your wav files, and yes it is.

I just signed up for a new Ripway account, and I'm just about to get to some recording. When I'm done, I'll link to them and see what you guys think.

Holyman- I think, if you raised the pitch of your voice a bit, it would be great for Avery, however he's sadly not in this story... maybe I can work him in there somewhere. If not, you might also be good for Ozy. Play around a bit more and see what kind of voices you can come up with!

Okay, here's one of me saying a whole lot of random stuff as the dread pirate captain Locke.

http://home.ripway.com/2004-10/185808/l ...
...and here's one that I did of Llewellyn giving a presidential speech type thingy. I have a weird sense of humor.

http://home.ripway.com/2004-10/185808/l ... /a>

Too much fun!
Hmm. I don't think I'd work for any of the voices (trust me on this. Way too odd an accent). With Llewellyn being a Celtic dragon, I do feel that his VAer should either be British or be able to do a good British accent.

Andy's voice is fantastic for Llewellyn, incidently

Though that doesn't mean that Ozymandias shouldn't audition for the role. Remember - the more people audition for the more roles the better the final result.

As for your Locke, Andy... Umm... Irish Pirates are scary. Fantastic Mandalin playing, though. For some reason I'm thinking that you and whoever the hell gets the role of Locke should team up and do a recording of This strip's song which I believe can be done by you recording your part and the Locke player doing the vocals and mixing... Of course that's just a thought.

Hopefully there will be more people trying out soon.

AND WHAT'S SO TERRIBLE ABOUT IRISH ACCENTS THEN, HUH?! nah, I'm just kidding. I've got a lot of Irish in me, and I love to do that kind of an accent as much as possible; however I can understand it not working with Locke. I could try it once more with a more British accent then Irish, but I don't want to overstep my boundaries and flood the thread with just me.

And thanks for the compliment on Llewellyn and the mandolin playing, it's muchly appreciated! I'd love to record that song if someone was up for the vocals! *evil cackle*

I'd guess Locke should have a more generic pirate accent, not leaning toward any particular nationality. I always pictured it as the voice of a kid pretending to be a pirate, using a stereotypical piratey voice. Would I be stepping on toes if I slipped in my own attempt at doing his voice? (Since you were the one who started all this, MA, I feel like you doing Locke's voice should just be a given.)

Yes, by all means, give it a go! The more the merrier! Now that I understand what you guys are talking about, I may give Locke one more go, but please don't feel like you'll be "stepping on any toes" by trying out for anyone!
