Nononononono. Windows 2.0 and Windows ME are hells in boxes. XP Pro actually works. XP Home is basically XP Pro without some of the features.

...I'm yet to see a version of windows more stable than Windows 3.1, however.

Oh, there was a 1.0 and a 2.0. I actually know someone who was a tester for 2.0. Apparantly she was fired for 'not being a team player'. Because she... Um... Commented that without testing everything again the newly implemented and untested gui might destabalise everything. Which it did. Hmmm.

1.0 came with reversi.

[Edit - of course, anything lower than 3.1 doesn't technically count as an operating system, they were all essentially GUI's for DOS]

I would have stuck with Windows for Workgroups 3.11 if it weren't for the desire to add a USB PC camera (which I don't really use anymore anyway) I also enjoyed adding 32-bit extensions so it could run ICQ.

Wait, wait: If I remember right 3.11 for workgroups was the beginning of the NT line, which makes it fundamentally a different operating system than Win 3.1/DOS (Powers of the archane sometimes don't get this archane!).

[EDIT]: And it didn't this time, either. Win 3.11/ Workgroups was the networking version of Win 3.1. I do remember that NT had the same GUI way back when it was first introduced.

no, os/2 1.0 through 2.1 was half MS's. then MS broke off and made "windows nt 3.1" which is different than WWFWG 3.1 & 3.11

I've heard Gentoo and Fedora/RedHat are good. I might be able to hook you up with Lindows/Linspire for free. Not sure if it's legal. I know it's legal for me (I'm a member of DeviantART), but I'm not sure it's legally free for non-DeviantART members...
