Right, fibre cables are about as exciting as regular wires.

It's just that they're so darn useful.

I know. Where would we be at Christmas without tacky fibre-optic trees that change colour?

Oooh . . . I remember fibre optic trees. They had a very short popularity here in the states about 15 - 20 years ago. Sometimes popular taste actually goes the right way, though.

Oops it seems I was wrong about the phones in a powercut.

Local exchanges can keep going for about 4+ hours, they have batteries. Same with mobile phones. Major exchanges last longer and have generators and batteries. Just lettin u know.

Yeah, regular exchanges in the states tend to have a self contained back-up generator as well.

Just in case you're planning to rob somewhere with a silent alarm, there should be 2 boxes on the street around the police station. Put a molotov coctail in each and uve got about 2 minutes before they dispatch people to all places like banks and jewelry shops.

That has to do with how it might work. I guess i missed out the bit about it needing to be a whole cell so the two could be hit simultaneously just as the job was being done. Ur rught m8.

Our town of West Pittston and the neighboring town of (get this) Pittston spent thousands of dollars on fiber optic cables to run along the one bridge between the towns. IT CHANGES COLOR!!!! So it's obviously soooo amazing and worth the money. Unless you're right next to the bridge you can't even see it. Both towns paid too...
