When you compare something it's a comparison. But if you contrast something? What is it? A contrastion? Don't think so.
I've always wondered about this, for some reason. Anyone know?

Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

The two seam very similar to me but i learned the diferenese in AP government. If the questions asks you to compare two things you shoudl show how they are similr but if the questions asks you to contrast two things you shoudl show how thay are diferent.

I think comparisons are whats the same but contrastions are whats diferent but it si a fromal denotative difrenese. Conotativly they are the same, usualy.

Contrast is the amount of difference.
Like, there's a big difference between yellow and blue side by side en't there?

I think she was asking for the noun form of "contrast", rather than the difference between the two words. I haven't a clue of the answer, but I just thought I'd clear up a possible misconception.

(Oh, and my apologies to Dragon Wing if I guessed the wrong gender, I wasn't sure which was correct)
