Since I like talking about myself, a few things about me:

I hail from Vancouver, Canada.
I've been reading O&M since late 2003 when I got linked to it by someone I know on a fanfiction board (more on that later). I've read most but not all of the archives.
My major hobby is Redwall fanfiction. I'm know as skipperofotters0 on the Redwall Fanfiction Board, where I've been a member for more than two years. That said, most of what I have online right now is older stuff, since I haven't had much time to write recently. One of my goals this summer is to try and complete a novel length fanfic, which I've already started drafting.
I'm a computer gamer, though I don't play that frequently anymore due to time constraints. However, I still do make a point of keeping up with all the latest in PC hardware, and act as an upgrade advisor to those around me. I don't charge for my advice. In case you were wondering, yes, my screen name does come from a combination of my geek hobbies and the fact I'm Canadian.
I enjoy political debate as long as it's civilized. I have written one short political satire for school.
Most of my time these days is burned up by school and homework. I'm thinking of going into either electronics/computer engineering or wildlife research, though the fact I hate being away from my internet connection might put a stop on any plans I have for the later. That said, there are other options I'm considering as well, so I don't know what I'm going to be studying in two years.

I like Vancouver, mainly due to the fact that we don't get a lot of weather extremes except for rain, which doesn't bother me that much.

Foxchild, I think you mentioned in one of the other threads that you were a Descent player? I played a lot of that series from 1995-2000, and off and on until 2002. Since then, time constraints, other hobbies, and a lack of new material in the series has prevented me from picking it back up. I've lost a lot of my touch with the game, but I'm pretty sure I could get it back if I tried.

I'm out of touch with it too, but almost reinstalled it last night before just playing another already installed game. I'm up for it, but i'm on a 56k, just to warn ya.

and for future reference, Descent 4 would have kicked some major tail.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

yo.

the cake faucet's been turned off, but there's still cookies over there -->

no, I wasn't making an internet cookies pun, otherwise I would have said something about the internet... hmm... that explination was sure half-baked...

I'm not sure this would be the best time for me to be trying to get back into Descent, as I have a lot of schoolwork right now. However, once my schedule is a bit less cluttered I'd like to give it a try again.

I didn't think 56K was that bad in Descent terms... most of my multiplayer experience is from playing D2 against friends with 28.8K modems, though those were just 1 on 1, direct connection matches so the need for bandwidth was probably less. I'm assuming you mean D3 here as 1 and 2 would be hard to get to run properly on my current machine.

As for the satellite internet connections, that would probably be a big help to my sanity. I just don't like being out of touch for that long, I suppose.

I'd really like to study animal behaviour. I think it would be interesting to try and learn how animals think, as they obviously don't think the same way we do. It would also be useful for a novel I want to try and write someday.

Welcome to the forum!

[bounces over and extends a paw] I'm Felix, the local mountain-dwelling wolf. If you feel the need to set something on fire, go for it, burning objects are considered a status symbol around here, judging from the dozens of times my little Integra has been roasted to a crisp by everyone else
