I thought I should start a separate thread for popular entertainment that isn't necessarily considered high art, such as The Three Stooges. Popular books, TV shows, movies, etc.
I remember my freshman college roommate (who I mentioned in the other thread) being excited to go see the movie Porky's. He came back from it madder than a wet hen, as he found the movie so stupid.

The Three Stooges is the shit. I was sick on New Year's Eve so I spent the entire night watching the AMC marathon and I lived every nauseous second of it.

Same with the Marx Bros. movies. Definitely recommended viewing.

I never got into Lost. I always heard stories about how addicting it could get so I started watching but it never had an appeal to me.

You lucky bastard. I don't even care for Lost all that much, but I am freaking addicted. Why not just stop watching? Because I AM WEAK.I never got into Lost. I always heard stories about how addicting it could get so I started watching but it never had an appeal to me.

I am quite happy to say that the only part of Lost I've seen is in the commercials advertising it.

I've seen bits and pieces of LOST on television, but not enough to hook me.
Anyone besides me watched the miniseries Shogun? It tried, but it just couldn't do justice to James Clavell's novel, which got into peoples' thoughts.

I'm hooked on Lost.
The show I don't get the point of is Caprica....It's so sodding boring.

I guess this isn't "popular" but I really like Bargain Hunt, especially Tim Wonnacott and his presenting style, which I imagine is what his personality is like. Anyway, from how I've seen them act on the programme and Antiques Roadshow, all antiques experts seem a little zany.

Probably the most overrated TV sitcom is Fawlty Towers, and I suspect its popularity is only because John Cleese was in it. He can be very funny, but in this show he basically overacted and screamed like a banshee, and I thought the show silly rather than clever.

Fawlty Towers is an excellent sitcom, in my opinion. John Cleese does overact occasionally but not to any detrimental effect, and some episodes probably qualify as among the greatest in British comedy.Probably the most overrated TV sitcom is Fawlty Towers, and I suspect its popularity is only because John Cleese was in it. Opinions may vary because I found it hilarious.

You want to know what really sucked? "Payne", the thankfully short-lived AMERICAN REMAKE of "Fawlty Towers" starring John Laroquette. I swear I am not making this up. It was... painful.

I am a big fan of NCIS, also.
