A Semi-Conscious State Exists
Moderator:Æron
Where you can see dreamlike images in your head but still be conscious enough to know you're in the real world.
I just tried an experiment while I was drowsy from Ny-Quil. I sort of let my head rest on my desk, but placed my fingers on the keyboard in typing position. I closed my eyes and let those dreamy images come. At the same time, I typed about them. Again, I was still semi-conscious, so it wasn't the same as if I was full-on dreaming and communicating with the outside world about it. And since I was semi-conscious I was able to try to put certain things to verses. But I still think it's an interesting taste of the subconscious trying to peek out.
This is what I typed:
"See him standing there
That mischevus smile
I couldjus crush ou
Tell me
Where have you been
I havent seen you lately
Tell me by the wall
Your golden decor
What I really am
With your marvelous red hair
And token flash
I feel this shifting
Lives torn apart
Strobe lights burning
Then stopping still
Horror
Train whistle
Blow me a tune
Sail away soon
Fall down the tunnel
Spiral rainbow
Down deeper
Deeper still
Fighting?>
No
Met your maker
He dawns a fancy hat and a cane to match
He is a rabbit
Why are you here
Te;; ,e your secret
I feel cold….
See the diamonds by the hill
Pick them and spend them
You will make your fortune as a salesman
I have faith in you
Say strong, son of the great one.
Salient snakes
You wwill meet your end.
Falling isnt so bad
Once you get used to the taste
Beautiful case, take me still
Cradle me… slowly…
I am out
I can see no longer
"
I remember "the great one" being Mohammed. I don't know.
Anyway the purpose of this topic is, if you even know what the hell I'm talking about, you should try the same. It's kind of interesting and there's potential story ideas in here. It seems like Alice in Wonderland could have been written based on this shit.

Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Re: A Semi-Conscious State Exists
I don't know if I can do this. I rarely find myself in such a state. Though maybe it could work with the use of a sleeping bag.

Re: A Semi-Conscious State Exists
The last time I was in a semi-consious state I think was when I had a dream about an episode of My Name is Earl where Earl encounters a child prostitute but he doesn't realize she is a child prostitute. Hi jinks ensued.

It's interesting to do and I've done something like this once a few years ago but ultimately I don't think it produces anything of value.

Re: A Semi-Conscious State Exists
I've had times when I didn't get enough sleep the night before where sometimes I would wind up in a half-doze and have a random lucid dream which lasts maybe a minute or so.

Whenever this has happened to me it wasn't writing but drawing that was the outcome of whatever altered perceptions I saw.
