Yeah non-AS CN sucks serious balls now. Chowder and Flapjack are the only cartoons I laugh at anymore. I'm pleasantly surprised to see someone other than me still watches cartoons =D
For me it runs in the family. My dad is an animation nut, hell he was watching Akira before it was cool. He encouraged me to watch any old cartoon (man I miss the days where they had reruns of Bugs Bunny). Seriously, animation stimulates intelligence. For me Saturday mornings was always cartoon time with dad so the old ones have a very nostalgic appeal to them. Then two years ago I saw American Pop and Heavy MEHTUL and was so entranced. Made me look into Bakshi more, in turn I found out he did the Fritz the Cat movie. Which I would like to see, although renting it may prove difficult... But owning it... Well that isn't a problem because my dad was randomly talking about wanting to see it, its supposed to be a "classic of animation" as he put it lol. Although I have no doubt it is. I'd like to see some other works by Bakshi other than American Pop but his other stuff (other than Fritz) is much less mainstream. Am I ranting about the greatness of animation again? I feel like a rambling old coot, "Now sonny boy! Let me tell you the story of when I was young and 'Spoooooot!' was a word..."
You always ramble, and this is the first time I read it. I watched Fritz the Cat on youtube. Tell your dad I love him.

It was pantsless awesome how Cow and Chicken made references to Saskatchewan.
Its interesting to note that Canada was commonly referenced in older cartoons... Now only Nick occasionally goes back to the good old days and make Canada jokes (it did used to be owned by a Canadian company afterall, I mean seriously what American TV station would have the Angry Beavers? Does anyone remember the salmon spawning episode? And the disco bear... I Can't recall his name... Actually is that all a reference to Xanadu? Because there was quite a few disco moments in that show... Including on rollerskates...)

Aww, thank you. I appreciate it so much that you read the post I could almost give you one of those gay-hugs everyones raving about, but alas it can never be for I am... Heterosexual. **does a dramatic pose and sweeps his arm up to his forehead, letting his hand rest daintily and leans back in a swooning pining fashion.**

However, if for some reason such a topic comes up I shall deliver your message. He'll appreciate someone other than me and the scant elite who share a love of all things animated. Most people have such a puny Disney view of it all, however I must confess I do rather like The Lion King (I'd like to see Kimba though for a final verdict) and Sleeping Beauty had a cool dragon in it...

Has anyone here seen The Dark Crystal? My dad found a stream of it(he went to see it when it came out, as any self-respecting D&D geek would at the time). It really is an interesting take on what is an otherwise simple good vs. evil tale. And the muppets used were very expertly done, very well designed.

Probably the "geekiest" thing hes done was to be excited that he found a stream of The Last Unicorn. Something he watched when he was in highschool (junior or senior year no less).

I downloaded a torrent of the 30s Merrie Melodie cartoons the other week, I haven't had time to watch many of them yet.

Impressive dedication **thumbs up**. I havn't had time to do it yet, but I hope to make one of those DC movie nights. Other than that, I'm weird in that unless its TV quality I don't typically watch online streaming, it never is TV quality anyway so other than the first few episodes of FMA:Brotherhood and The Dark Crystal I havn't really watched things through... Well I have watched most of Evangelion but it was sucky quality (the streaming not the animation) so I don't count that.

Actually, if you could program a click counter to see how many times we can kick the can before it flies off screen, this could be a real addictive competitive internet game.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

If you make the can move faster with each click it could easily be challenging.

This is serious now. It could be the greatest internet-based game of the next twenty minutes.

Its great to know that some people still remember or watch the old CN shows, then again considering this is DC, well I suppose the crowd would be the same. The only good ones on now (as far as new ones go) are Chowder and Flapjack but thats all I can recall as being good as far as non-AS CN is concerned.

Just so happens I watch cartoons ALL the time, every night and every weekend as well.
Just because I'm 43 don't mean I can't have SOME fun! (Besides, a lot of them are educational programming; They just don't let you know you're learning something!)
