I've sometimes wondered about the bird's gender. And indeed, if it is female, than she's not straight, judging from the femmy faux roadrunners that can lure her. But remember when the coyote looked up and saw that his prey wasn't falling?

Notice that the roadrunner doesn't deny the appropriateness of the masculine pronoun.

However I can't really let go to the sentiment that the roadrunner's a chick.

I bet the only reason why the roadrunner was officially decreed a guy was because it'd look bad if a male predator was chasing after a female prey in a (however wacky) attempt to maul and eat her. No wife beaters itt.
