How do you be a furry?

Moderation note: I split away all the unpleasant posts and the posts referring to them. Sorry to those people who may have commented on the degradation of the thread and also included a serious on-topic response.
To those who were directly involved: Do not let this sort of thing happen again.
To those who don't know what I'm talking about: Don't worry about it. Trust me it's not that interesting anyway

Are those people? I mean like, a Squirrl, sorta a mix of me and Millie. You mean like Osprey? Or like Sage?find out where to get a drawing of me like a squirrel
So many new words I have to learn I guess. And I think a squirrel is a good furry to be, I like collectinig, and climbing trees, and I really like nuts and stuff.
Oh and likeafox are you posting in the right place? I got confused once and made a post in the wrong place too once.

And that man with the hairy back is scary! He needs a shave!

They're two members of the forum with squirrel fursonas. The latter has drawings (done by VenM2), as you can see in his avatar. The former does not, to my knowledge. (Once again, I'm emphasizing the fact that it is optional.)Are those people? You mean like Osprey? Or like Sage?find out where to get a drawing of me like a squirrel
If you want a drawing, the simple thing to do is to look around for someone willing to draw it, and ask. Note that some artists may want to be commissioned for it, which basically means you'll have to pay them, but a few others will be willing to do so for free.

A lot happened in this thread while you were gone, namely, a flamewar. They are the reason Dr. Doog gives out those flameproofing coupons to new members. Some VERY heated words were exchanged in this thread dealing with some of the more unsavory subsets of furry-dom. So likeafox used his authority as an admin to erase the offending posts, putting out the flames. That post is basically him saying that he did so.Oh and likeafox are you posting in the right place? Thankfully, this forum is small enough that big arguements like that are rare here, but not all internet forums are so civil. Here's an interesting site I got the earlier link from that, while a few years old, does a great job at making fun of the kinds of stuff that goes on in online arguements like the one you thankfully missed.
Flame Warriors
As for the main topic, I'm not in a very good postition to talk about being a furry since I don't consider myself one. But for this forum's purposes, I'd probably make a drawing of myself as an animal of some kind to use as an avatar if I had the drawing skill, but I don't. I think that's about as far as it goes for this forum though.
Tss... I can't even leave you guys alone for ONE WEEK, can I?To those who don't know what I'm talking about: Don't worry about it. Trust me it's not that interesting anyway

Now, to Jelly. Being a furry is mostly a matter of self-definition. You don't need to do anything to be a fur, and doing certain things doesn't automatically make you one. I know people who roleplay as anthros yet aren't furry, and I know furries who have 'human' fursonas. So it really just comes down to what you define it as. It could be as little has the name 'furry', that you just like to be associated with it. It could also be that you just like to hang around other furs. It could be that you like to roleplay as a fur.
So like Niner said, don't let others tell you what being furry is. There's as many definitions of it as there are furs. Do it because you want to, not cause others want you to or because you feel you have to. Make your own way.

Furries? Are they the nutters that pretend to be animals and draw humans that look like animals? Christ, I sink my head into my paws... -Rooster

Know how I realized I was a furry? Because I had always been obsessed with animal characters in cartoons and comics, and even created human-sized "anthros" without ever being aware anyone else did that.
But I'm no different, really, than I was before I discovered the fandom. Except I post my anthros on the Interwebs now that I know there's a demand for them.

That's pretty much the story of my furry life...minus the art.Know how I realized I was a furry? Because I had always been obsessed with animal characters in cartoons and comics, and even created human-sized "anthros" without ever being aware anyone else did that.
