Everything after it wasn't a quote of anyone. If you eman the listing of various products, that's all a list of various examples of some things widely used throughout the world, produced in America to somewhat justify the "everything" used in that quote. Though in truth, the quote was regarding more so the aid and money America invests in foreign countries (many of which seem to despise* America), and used as a joke -not as a valid political statement.

*despise as in they'd like the end/death/other such things of the US, beyond the general European "Amerikkka" thing I hear far too often.

Although many countries may "rely" on America and still hate it, note that the US itself relies on those countries too. There's a lot of anti-American sentiments in South America, and the US economy relies on their weaker economies to keep the goods flowing. The world is closing in, Globalization doesn't only apply one way. And the "aid" that the US sends to these countries doesn't seem to change much in therm very often anyway. Americans parade around claiming that they're the center of the universe, and act like no other country could endure without them. Perhaps this is true, but could the US endure without these countries? Maybe that's what fosters these sentiments, not just some inherent hatred of US gene.

A i d , not "aid".

Also, what with the big three American automakers having lost out foreign companies for profits and sales, businesses in the US outsourcing jobs to other nations being one of the major political topics, the massive amount of products across the nation featuring "Made in China" on the package (especially in Walmart), etc., I'm fairly sure many Americans are well aware of the duel effects of globalization -far more than you're sure of how Americans are, their history in other nations, their "gene", etc. I have yet to see any American seriously claim that they or this country is the center of the universe, or go parade around anything recently other than Pride, but that's hardly limited to America.

Though to further analyze a quote made in jest, not every American relies on Walmart, either. I, for one, refuse to shop there for anything. Yet I do support their efforts for environmentalism and running a cleaner massive global corporation.

we just went for the guy that seemed to be working in the right direction.
Yes, the right direction. I suppose the left just hinders those dreams of a global non-regulated free market utopia.

I must say that of all the political discussions I've ever seen online, this is the only one I've seen where people disagree without letting it become a flamewar.

I hope it lasts!

Lunatics have had atomic weapons for years. The Soviets have them, the Indians and Pakistanis are at war and both have them...why not Iran?

I mean, hell...only one country has ever detonated them on live targets...and I'll trust their say-so on "who gets them" last.
Listen, dude, I'm sorry to say, I think that is one of the dumbest things you could have ever said.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

Am I missing something? The Tories are the Conservatives and I thought they embraced free market ideals.

Tories (here, at least) were generally the people whom supported England and the monarchy during the revolution.

How so? What makes the US any more deserving of having atomic weapons than Iran? Last time I looked, Iran hadn't invaded anyone in quite a while.
