Cheers Mr Pompelchook! I was being faciceous when I suggested the club, but I like the idea now.

Maybe, rather than making those who don't have cartoon feel excluded, it could be a club geared up for cartoonists, people planning cartoons, and general cartoon fans to share opinions and ideas on comics themselves...geared up to the creative process and helping with suggestions, comments, and constructive criticism for webcartoonists and fans to share ideas and the like.

Hmm :wag:
That's pretty much what I was thinking. I mean, I don't have a comic, yet I suggested this. I just think it would be cool to have a place geared toward amateur comics.

What if we already have our own forum?
If you put peanutbutter anywhere on your body, I'll lick it off...

ANYWHERE.

My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

What if we already have our own forum?
I think the idea would be for a place for us as creators to "talk shop" and support and maybe help each other with projects, whereas your forum is more a place for your fans to discuss your comic.

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

Okay, so basically it sounds like what we need is a sort of comics collective, like The Nice. Basically, just a small website with a list of participating comics and links to them, a blog that any member can post on, and a forum. But who would organize such a thing? I would normally be willing to, but I'm leaving in a few months on a 2-year mission for my church. Not a good time to start any (more) major projects. :)

If we could get hosting, I'd be perfectly willing to design/program the site. I know PHP and stuff now. I doubt I could admin the forum though, being that I'm unreliable as far as having Internet access. Hard to say. My dad is considering getting some kind of Internet at our house this summer, but... well, he "considers" a lot of things.

EDIT: Actually, it's possible that Felix could host the site. Though, he did mention planning to move the hosting of his own site to a computer of his own. I'd personally like to see how reliable that proves to be before I agree to it.

I can host it all on the same server as DC. Let me talk to likeafox and see what his ideas are. I will probably post a poll and see where our ideas and your guys ideas possibly meet. I don't have time to code another site but I have no issues offering hosting. But let me talk to him and see what his ideas are too.
cheers.....

How do y'all feel about making this site be like Keenspot/Purrsia and host the comics themselves as well? Just throwing it out there. I don't know if I'd be on board with it either.

If it matters at all, I could make a whole new forum.

Not a bad plan.

This sounds like a good idea. I'd like to see how it turns out. It's something I'd definately take part in, at a user-level atleast. If you guys think it'll have enough momentum, and want to go the route of creating new forum on DC, I'd be happy to make one. Or if you want to create a new site, it sounds like Jent would be happy to host it.

What I'd recommend you do is, Octan, Comerade, Cameron, or whoever wants to take charge of this thing-- Get all the ideas together and make a poll here so people can vote for how/where they want this new section/new site to take place. Then we can start counting heads to see how many people are actually interested in this.

The whole club idea sounds really nice. I was always a fan of the comics that grouped themselves with other peers or even friends. But...

I probably wouldn't be on board for that one. It's a good idea, but I'm about to buy special webhosting for my site, so its not really necessary for me.

That mean I can get a Woods For The Trees section? :wag:

We could probably even hook you up so the top-level domain you bought (woodsforthetrees.com) actually works. Part of the problem was that Comicgenesis refused to let you use a hostmask, right?

All for the better, 'cause I'm having suspicions that SmackJeeves has a comic limit (There's a bar where it says 'number of comics' in the comic profile) and DrunkDuck bothers me with its sheer unfriendliness for customizing the website, layout, and all that.
...Haven't tried Comic Genesis, though.
