I drew him a while ago while sitting at a table to help out with an elementary school thing. I love kids. I got lots of oohs and ahhs from them when I showed it to'em. :3

I like kids, too. They're more likely to appreciate certain things well.

It's a lovely drawing, but depending on your aim, you may want to try longer torsos. Those arms remind me of gibbons.

If they try to draw stick figures, I am going to NOT compliment on a good job. Really now, I'm a SCAD student, a student in one of the best art colleges around and I have little patience when dealing with bad drawings and having to compliment them on it. Well who knows what I'll do when I do this next year. Only the "Great MEHTUL hand in the sky" can tell me what will happen (I sure hope you get the quote )

Yes, because goodness knows only the kids who already draw well deserve praise and encouragement. Now I'm no art expert, but I was under the impression that it was more about self-expression than about producing pretty pictures. I would advise taking a course in educational psychology before approaching teaching with that attitude.

On a lighter note, very cute picture Kelix, and props for helping out at an elementary school!

While i draw nice stuff when i was a kid, no one really encouraged me XD

oops Crap... silly me .... Dang, why does my mind always blank out when I try to critique or analyze something!? Umm, my head's response is hard to explain... I think I feel like this

As far as I know, if I have to teach them to draw well, then so be it. If I have to teach them to express themselves and draw better, then so be it too. I just won't compliment or encourage kids if they produce terrible terrible drawings both visually and expressive. I learned that from many professors, the youth today have been over complimented for things that aren't good, and that leads to a harder future. If a kid tries and fails something, they should be encouraged to try and do better, not compliment them on a failure. I'm not saying that I'm going to criticize them for not having experience, I only plan on making them better at this.

Oh, here is a good idea... don't take it as an offense Tum0spoo, I at least plan on teaching those kids to draw just as well as you. Sorry sorry if I hurt any feelings *runs and hides*

Maybe cause you need it bad yourself. Seriously dude you got a long road ahead of you before you can even fathom to teach kids. Tools and Schools don't make an artist.I can make pretty cool doodles at work using a cheap dull tipped expo marker I find lying around. No one ever taught me how do work that marker to make interesting lines. Its not something you learn like other things. Many of us are self taught and learn through observation. All that will come out of school maybe realizing a few new techniques and some guiding info on how to improve yourself. There is no black and white do this do that and you will get better. Draw like this draw like that. I don't much like your attitude on the subject as is now. Seems like this school your in isn't trying to culture your mind only your pencil. Left Brained people ugh...

Complimenting Them (nice work Mildred!) kids while giving a few pointers (Mildred, If you think your drawing sucks then, practice because practice is GOOD) on how to improve there art is always good because it encourages them to do better.
