Avery just has to not like everything. He doesn't have to dislike anything, though. There's a difference.

I'm reminded of an early Marlon Brando in The Wild One. When asked what he and his fellow bikers were rebelling against, he replied, "What have you got?" When Brando died 50 years later, I saw this quote used in a summary of his life.
