A hindrance to furries?

A place to talk about anything (that doesn't belong in the other forums).

I dont think a tail would get in the way that much. all the kits would learn at a young age how to avoid that stuff.

I doubt the invention of the car, door, bike and shoe would have had much influence on the evolution of humans, though. :P
No, though they do provide a good arguement against anyone wanting to get a real one now that the human body doesn't have one.

It just occurred to me that prey species would have a good reason not to have tails too big.

Or at least tails that stick out too far from the body.

Deers and mooses have short tails. Cows and horses have tails that hang against the body. And that's all I care to think of right now.
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

I don't know if tails would create a balance issue for bipeds, but there's an easy way to find out: find some furry fans who regularly wear clip-on tails and ask 'em! :D

Incidentally, yes, chairs that are tail-friendly are in great abundance. I'd say roughly 90% of the (school-owned) chairs on our campus have some kind of gap between the back and the seat. I think they do that to save money on material.

And for chairs that aren't tail-friendly...

Apparently it would create an issue, otherwise there would have been really strong reasons for us to lose them. And are clip-on's as heavy as a real tail would be?

The reasons for keeping one could outweigh the dangers they can bring. Several animals have kept long and large tails because it aids their lifestyle (not counting limp tails).

Good point. Still, a tail is much thinner and more fragile than a leg/arm. It'd cut off the circulation.

I can't speak for all, but I found a site that sells some, and theirs have a MEHTUL chain at their core. I would assume that'd be plenty heavy.

I suppose so, how much does an average fox (since there's a lot of them here) weigh anyway?

But I think what the original quote may have been hinting at is tails that have weight and size in proportion to our body mass. Whatever, it was just a suggestion I thought people here, furries at least, might be interested in talking about.

And we certainly are. Incidentally, I never have bothered to ask any clip-on tail owners if they have balance issues (or back problems, for that matter), so I really can't come up with any better guess than you. But I know where to find them.

Although if you sit on it too long, do you think it would fall asleep?

That'd be a hindrance!
