Thanks Dude :wag: Now looking back....O&M have crummy art but they are cuter and more childish looking than the new "style" of O&M but hey times change and theres nothing we can do about it.

Be aware that some of those earlier strips were drawn for the purpose of syndication and therefore reflect a different mindset then the ones Simpson does now.

I think he's even said that he drew some of the earlier ones to appeal to the "cut them out and stick to the fridge" demographic. Which isn't to say that they're bad of course.

Desire for syndication wasn't the only difference, of course. DCS has said before that he's really not the same person as in 1998. For him to try to keep the comic the same as always would be difficult, unappealing to himself, and arguably dishonest.

ya the art of it is a lot better and I like the comic just as much now as a did then but for different reasons. Before I like the cuteness of, now I like the story lines that it has.

I prefer the strips that are funny to the strips that try to make a point and fail to make a point or be funny.

Garfield never tries to make a point, and use to be funny.

It used to be funny when I was five and laughed because it featured a talking cat eating lasagna. It has been specifically designed by Jim Davis to be as unoffensive and bland as possible.

Offensivness does not equel comedy. It was clever and witty at one point.

If that's your honest opinion, then who am I to take that away from you?

I for one enjoy Bloom County, a comic often considered offensive.

Yet the offensiveness of that does nothing to take away the cleverness and wit.

In a likewise fashion I state that I enjoy the cleverness and wit of Ozy and Millie.

I also like strips with clever and wit. It is a shame when these elements are not present in a comic when they usually are
