Postby mother nature's son » Wed Aug 23, 2006 2:16 pm

I found this from a while back http://definecynical.mancubus.net/viewtopic.php?t=294
I figured Id better re-post it than pick up on the 3 year old thread........

I seriously didnt know that David did music. This song was in the old thread, http://om.runawaynet.com/music/tin.mp3 .....and I can't seem to find it on the current site http://om.runawaynet.com/music/

I'm quite impressed... he sounds like Michael Stipe from R.E.M

I agree, DCS is very talented. "Still Nina" has to be my favourite song of her's.

DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

Hm. I haven't heard any DCS music since he became a she. Does she use a different singing voice?

AFAIK, she hasn't released anything unless it was in friends-only LJ posts.

I've never seen an episode of the anime Still Nina is based on but I still find the song very sad and touching, it's become one of my favourite songs ever. I guess it's a testament to her ability as a writer to make it appeal to non-fans as well. Tin Heart and Mockingbird Song are also nice.

"Still Nina" is one of those songs where you don't have to know who it's about to understand it. I too have only heard of Fullmetal Alchemist (that is the anime IIRC) but I still can relate to the song. It is a masterwork.

It has an even greater impact once you know what the song is really about.

I've always been a fan of Dave's music, ever since I first heard "California". I actually play "We All Fall Down" in my own style when I do open mic nights. It gets big applause, and I always tell everyone about Ozy And Millie afterwards :wag:
