Wait, you want to see my Art? It ain't much to look at...
Titanic fans rejoice! I have a Titanic RP board. Only... not on the Titanic... and kinda on the Teen side...Nothing real gratuitous though!

So? There are PG-13 and R rated areas on SL. And an age-limit so that you can't join unless you're legally an adult. I don't see a problem with adult orientated options in an adult orientated environment. I also don't see anything 'adult' about being biologically accurate.THis specific aspect is what I have heard the most about from SL, as ONE specific ADULT aspec is in it. And I'll put it this way: Players of the community can create ANYTHING or just about ANYTHING, and since people can create themselves asa furries... well...hang on, heres a quote from another forum: (I don't wnat this to start a war on SL, as I bet even you know some of these people are in there.)

Really, anything on the internet with player made content options will inevitably, invariably, have that.THis specific aspect is what I have heard the most about from SL, as ONE specific ADULT aspec is in it. And I'll put it this way: Players of the community can create ANYTHING or just about ANYTHING, and since people can create themselves asa furries...
...even things without built in player made content options.

Some of us don't want cute and cuddly, but don't understand that as wanting grim and gritty. This leaves the question... will our furry selves be cute and adorable?
Heh, I think I find the opposite pointless. At least with RPG's you have a quest of sorts, a mission, a challenge or a direction. What I've heard of SL, it just seems like a community, a place to talk with friends online. Though I'm not sure, never played SL and only played very small parts of RPG's through friends.I think you've just pointed out why I enjoyed SL but don't enjoy most MMORPGs.
...
(ie - Battle in order to become stronger/get better items in order to battle stronger enemies in order to become even stronger/get even better items in order to battle even stronger enemies in order to...)
...Just seems a bit... Well... Pointless, to me.

And SL isn't a game, but purely a virtual community with small games created by users.

Games developers must... Programmers not so much. Programmers simply need to be problem solvers (weather they're games programmers or regular programmers... There's nothing special about games programming....) The developer of a game isn't neccessarially the same person who does the programming. It's entirely plausable that hte programmer just programs without doing anything else, but that's probably less efficient.I like their ideal of "game developers must be artists first".
It'd be nice if programming was done artistically in general.
I do think that a videogames developer could use the same skills to develope a boardgame or a cardgame, though...

It's true...in order to make a good game, you must be of a very creative mind. For example, Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman. But, if you look at half the websites out there, you'll see that programmers don't nessesarily have good atristic talent.Games developers must... Programmers not so much. Programmers simply need to be problem solvers (weather they're games programmers or regular programmers... There's nothing special about games programming....) They're short term goals, the equivilent to a console RPG subquest at best. At worst they're targets within the overall treadmill.Huh?But those aren't really 'directions'.
If there's one thing I hate about console rpgs, is going out of my way to either gil up or level up. Traditional MMORPGs, to me, seem to be entirely that, with the addition of everything I can do in a chatroom.
I can think of an exception to that, but I can't for the life of me name it. RP manditory, world designed not to give players who play alot an advantage, permadeath on a three strikes and you're out basis, even an IC way of dealing with people going OOC (a mental illness that's ultimately fatel in it's most severe forms)... Last I checked it hadn't been released. Political structure of the world is ultimately player run, etc.
