Civ 4 game

Postby likeafox » Sun Oct 24, 2010 5:46 pm

I know at least nine of you have this game, so who is up for an epic game of Civ 4? It would be an ongoing thing with maybe each person playing a turn per day and then on Sundays we could all get together and play 15 or so (or whatever day works for you guys).

I know there are going to be questions before anyone commits, so ask and we shall discuss.

I am Civ-less until at least next Monday. After that, perhaps, why not.

There is no reason why we have to start before Monday, and I'd like to wait and see if anyone else would like to join.

Would you guys like to play with additional AI players or without? I think with at least 4 human players there is no need for more as AIs really.

No AI would be better. This'll be the first time I've played in months actually.

Wait how does non-synchronous play work? Like, we can take our turn even though everyone isn't connected? Because holy pants that's awesome.

I'd totally be down for that.

Correct! You can play your turn even when no one else is online.

Hmmm... vanilla Civ 4? I enjoy AND 1.75 (standalone) better (Hell, I've barely played vanilla I got RoM almost immediately after getting the game). Even for multiplayer I don't think I could go back :? . Plus the new MegaPack with new leaderheads and civs (including both modern AND ancient Egypt (Kemet) and Israel) is being realeased in pieces so I have alot to look forward to single player...

Guys, we are almost ready to start the game. I will remind you that yes this is the original Civ 4, NO EXPANSIONS OR MODS WILL BE USED. Here are the rules, if everyone is agreed on them:

Map: Small Pangea
all other map options: (random)
game speed: normal

Game options:
  • City flipping after conquest
  • Require complete kills
Victory conditions:
everything except Diplomatic

I can create the game as soon as everyone tells me which character they want to play as (you can also chose to take a random leader), and your preferred difficulty (noble is default for people who don't specify). I will also be adding one AI player to the game in case someone wants to join after we have already started, and in that case they can join us by taking the AI's spot.

For the least experienced players (Jack and BSP), I would recommend playing on Chieftain difficulty. I think I'll probably be playing one level above whatever Aeron choses, I predict he'll be playing Warlord or Noble.

for those who don't remember, the difficulties from easiest to hardest: Settler, Chieftain, Warlord, Noble, Prince.
