Y'know, that works. It really does. I can definitely see Millie in that story. You know who the voice reminds me of most? Dr. Doog's version.<br><br>I guess that's the final word on the matter. <b><i>Personally,</i></b> I don't "give" the characters voices. This is mainly because the medium (comic strips) does not require it. In fact, the lettering work done by DCS is so efficient, it conveys the sound and mood of each character's speech visually. Most characters have a similar text, but the words themselves (along with stylizing such as <b>bold</b> and <i>italics</i>) is enough to show what the character sounds like. For instance, Llewellyn's speech is written in an Old English style, showing the underlying tones of age and wisdom. I've said similar things of other characters (both in comcs and novels) as well. However, when there is a comic that does not use "graphically descriptive speech text" (or, in some cases, a novel), I tend to be more likely to "generate" voices for specific characters. But then again, that's just me. <br><br>However, I have to admit that the voice there does fit Millie rather well. In my experience, cynical people tend to have more nasal tones in their voice, although that's most likely a gargantuan coincidence.<br><br>Or I could be mad. In the clinical sense.

Would would have to say that it is a close match for what I alsways thought Millie would sound like. ALthough a tad bit little less on the nasely side would be closer to what I had thought she would sound like.

As with all of these vocal things, I am not going to listen to them, cos I like the voice I imagine for her.<br><br>Maybe I'd an animated series when (or if) the comic finishes.

It could be a silent movie, like the old Charlie Chaplin films. Those were able to convey humour and story with a limited amount of sound. And what little speech was in those was "typed" onto the screen.<br><br>Although, most of O&M's humour comes from the dialouge. Still, it <i>could</i> be possible. But there wouldn't be much point.

Eh, you don't have TV shows based on comics, that's what.<br><br>That's sort of uncontrollable however. If you must, I'd say she does a very good job, just, as said, a taaaaad nasal.

Personally i don't imagine a voice for any comic at all but i'm not bothered if the cretor himself chooses one he likes, it is after all his decision, he knows his characters best and what they will do/say.<br><br>However nasal it may sound to you, you have to admit that is definitely something Millie would say.<br><br>GhostWay, David didn't invent using text in that way. Jeremy's lower case speech is from Moe in Calvin and Hobbes and Walt Kelly was using Llewellyn type lettering in Pogo decades ago. As for bold and italic, they're common through all comics. Of course these are all good visual tactics and as you said they help express the character better.
