I saw that CSI episode only a few weeks ago, since I finally found a video of it online. I actually kept my favorite lines in a little text file. I don't watch the show, and i don't recall names, but obviously it was the main female character who said all of these excellent lines:

"This isn't a costume, it's a six-foot condom"
"Well I like hairy chest, but I'm not about to bop a six foot weasel"
"You don't think they allow plushies in the NRA?"

But it was really bad.

Oddly enough, I first heard of furries in an article in the Parade, which somebody linked to for some other story on these forums... it wasn't really a bad article. I'm trying to find where I downloaded the episode, since it's too big for me to upload, I know there should be a post somewhere on 2's "Furry Army of Doom" message boards which is where I found it... while looking though I did find this:

"I'm a pretty socialble guy in RL with a decent level of charisma. When people talk about 'how pants up furries are' I tend to use the good ol' bastard powers on 'em.

Dude: ... Yeah, and then they started *humping* eachother in those costumes.
Me: Well, it was a TV show. Do you actully know any furs?
Dude: Nope.
Me, grinning and enjoying the irony: That's really funny, because I am one.
Dude: *silence, combination of shock and horror*
Me: Ok, now tell me, when you watch football, who do they put on the jumbotron? The guy wearing the Packers shirt, or the crazy fat mother f***** painted gold and green?
Dude: Um.. so not all furries are crazy?
Me: Mostly."

TV Guide: "The writers at CSI have come up with some strange and kinky cases to investigate in the past (think the scuba diver in a tree or Lady Heather). But in this truly bizarre episode they've outdone themselves, which makes you wonder: do they have vivid imaginations or does stuff like this really happen?"

man, i can find everything that was ever said about the espisode, but not the video :\

I'm about to use a couple words with heavy baggage, but I do not intend them to be taken as applied to "race". I'd like to be much less specific than that.

Yes, there is a definite trend to categorize, segregate and otherwise discriminate between what does and does not have a given characteristic. I hazzard it's a result of these things we call brains, but I don't understand why some people treat every difference with life and death importance.

From a genetic point of view, mutations in protien expression that don't kill an organism or otherwise prevent it from reproducing can sometimes become essential to that organism's survival -- i.e. when a virus or strain of bacteria exploit the (more prevalent) non-mutated protien. In such cases, being "normal" is a very bad thing.

I like being a furry since I don't know anyone else in my school who considers him/her self a furry (in a school of 2,200, that's pretty big). I'm unique (for once)! I know a ton of people who are punk, otaku, goth (sorry to use so many labels), and there are tons of people in each fandom, but I'm the only self-described furry I know in real life. It's one thing that I have to myself. So let's think, I'm furry, a headbanger, a band geek, a nerd, an idiot, and a weirdo all in one (not necissarily in that order). I like that combo.
