An interesting mathematical one, perhaps.
On your way to work, you drive at an average speed of 20km/h. On the way back, you take the exact same route. If your average speed in the car that day is 30km/h, how fast were you travelling on the way home, on average?
How fast would you have to go to have an average speed of 40km/h?

I don't know but those to me sound like question that actually say the answer in the question like what color is the brown dog? I am not going to answer to avoid sounding stupid. I just thought that I should state that out.If your average speed in the car that day is 30km/h, how fast were you travelling on the way home, on average?

It is not. The second question should be interpreted as "how fast would you have to go on your return journey for an average speed that day of 40km/h?" The first question requires a bit of basic algebra, the second a bit of logic.I don't know but those to me sound like question that actually say the answer in the question like what color is the brown dog? I am not going to answer to avoid sounding stupid. I just thought that I should state that out.

Incorrect. The first one you travled back at a rate of 40km per hour and the second is 60 km per hour.

I'm afraid that answer is incorrect. Seeing as it's been such a long time, the working and answer are as follows:
Say that the distance you travel to work is d km. This means that the time it takes for you to get to work in the morning is d/20 hours. In order for your average speed to be 30km/h, you must take 2d/30 hours to go to work and back.
Therefore the return journey must take you 2d/30 - d/20 = d/60 hours. You must travel at d/(d/60) = 60km/h in order to achieve an average speed of 30km/h.
I'll leave the other question open for now.
