That was sort of unexpected to mo. My head sort of cocked to the side for a moment as it sunk in.

O somewhere are philosophers
Whose heads dwell with the birds
Whose lofty thoughts and razor minds
Do justice to such words.
But terror of exploding heads
Is quite a bit to bear
So we'll just lie here in the grass
And yo-yo in the air

Astro> gforce's smiles can cure cancer in kittensgforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

I was half-expecting the marriage proposal to come up any day now, if it was ever happening. What made me do a double-take, though, was the way it was sone so casually. If it weren't for the rambling, I would have thought that was a joke.
Though I'm not completely surprised. It does seem like the kind of thing they'd do.

Well, this is interesting. I don't think I'd call what I felt surprise, due to their relationship having already become a romantic one. I was affected more by the importance of the development than its suddenness.
Also, the second panel pretty much sums up my philosophy on romance. You can't spell "girlfriend" without "friend".

It is a mistake to fancy that horror is associated inextricably with darkness, silence, and solitude. I found it in the glare of midafternoon, in the clangour of a metropolis...
This is so much like what happened to me - my then-girlfriend and I were sitting together at my apartment, each reading our separate books. Out of the blue, she said, "You know, if we can put up with dating each other for a year, we should move in together". I thought about that for a moment, and replied, "If we're going to move in together, we might as well handfast." She said "Okay", and that was that.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, "handfasting" is the NeoPagan term for marriage.
I hope it works out better for them than it did for me. My wife died a scant two months before our fifth anniversary.

That'd be sorrowfully awesome. It would be tragically hilarious if she was joking.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Can't say I didn't see this coming, but the execution was unexpected - and very fitting for this strip.
If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (Revelation 2:5, NIV)
