On the subject of doing whatever a spider can, one of the gifts I got on Christmas was Richard Lederer's logophilic book A Man of My Words. In the introduction, he mentions the notoriously common but difficult question, "Where do you get your ideas?" He thought he had a good answer at last: "Where does a spider get its webbing?" The boy to whom he addressed it didn't miss a beat: "From its butt!"
