Wouldn't YOU be, if all you had to do was hang onto that job for eight years in order to get a guaranteed pension allowing you to live fairly comfortably for the rest of your life?

That's the situation in Canada.

the artist does not make the character, the character makes the artist.

Ah people in Authority. It'd be nice if they were all moral and actually did have your best interest at heart. But they only have that at heart as long as they can use it in some way. It's kind of sad but that's how life works at the moment. Until the inevitable Squirrel and Liger uprising that destroys you all! Muahahahahaha. *Shifty eyes.* Um I mean until we find better leaders. Yeah. You all should just forget I said that other thing.

I wish to throw down a gauntlet...

Somebody draw O+M as P+B.

Ive been hearing that a lot of the artists on this board have been itching to draw..something. So why not give this a shot.

Ill try my hand at it to...but the way I waste time...I'll probably finish it by 2012.

Kudos to RK9 for the nifty idea.

They are more concerned about keeping their position in office than actually helping...
In Croatia we have a special situation. We have the Croatian Democratic Union and the Social Democrats, bouth of the partyes are Liberal and Conservativ, but CDU is more Con. then Lib. and SC is more Lib. then Con. and this makes a kind of a strange Jing Jang kind of governmant.
Whitch makes the governmant Lib. & Con. at the same time.

I agree with Millie that I can't be an anarchist, but I can't be an anarchist since the idea of anarchy makes absolutly no sense in any way.

Its the idea of no idea. :p

Anyways, this was a pretty good way to end this arc.

Actually, anarchy doesn't work because humans (and many other animals) instinctively seek to establish some sort of power structure/pecking order amongst themselves. This also contributes to the type of behavior that leads to story arcs like the one that just ended.

I have to say, this ending leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I'm disappointed there's no resolution (other than cake of course). I just felt that for once the outcasts really should have been vindicated. Oh well, social commentary you know :marty:

I also feel disappointed by the way the story arc was handled, but for a different reason.

After a strip as emotionally charged as the one where Millie punches Jeremy, I was expecting things to go a little different from the way it usually does. We're all familiar with the school staff being mindless idiots. Couldn't they at least be shown trying to rationalize their decision this time ("...that's what the rules say, I can't do anything about that...")? Or maybe show that Sorkowitz was feeling vindictive, so it was easy for her to dismiss Jeremy (not that she'll admit to that)?

Nope, apparently not. I don't know if Simpson is trying to drive a point home to the point of tossing aside any chance that they might be halfway human, but that's what it looks like to me.

I still enjoy the comic for the most part, mind. It's just that this particular turn of events... no, I've said enough.

I spent many frustrated hours of my childhood mulling over the ideas in this strip... I ended up on Ozy's side of the fence. Limited ambition, I guess. So I'm okay with showing the world as it is. Makes my vigilance seem more meaningful.

As for just authority... well... Rulers self-select. People with medium-sized ambitions have been trying to mitigate that for a long time.

Keep trying folks.

As was I. I was honestly very moved by that one strip, comedy aside, and I was somewhat expecting it to have made more of an impact on the characters. In the long run it doesn't matter too much, but the ending was still disappointing.

On a side note, welcome to the forums LinneasDragon!
