William Hung is a horrible singer that got kicked off of American Idol. Despite this, he has sold over 400.000 albums!!! (The baseball game he is talking about was in Toronto. I heard it live over the radio)

To be annoying and pedantic ('cos that's what I do <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo--> ), William Hung sang "Take Me Out To The Ball Game," not the national anthem, at a baseball game. And yes, he was awful. Hung "singing" the national anthem would be a total disgrace (and the game was in Toronto, which means he would have butchered "O Canada" *shudders*)<br><br>At least Hung knew the words, which is more than can be said about Ozzy Osbourne.

I'm rather amused by William Hung's success to tell the truth.

Ozzy Osbourne doesn't need to know the words of the songs he's singing, he just kinda mumbles and it come out right <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

William Hung is proof that our pop-culture is becoming more and omre self-degrading. But he's still funny as heck. I almost feel sorry for the guy; he seems like a genuinely nice person, just a bit...ummm...dilusioned. Of course, there's also the popular theory that Hung is just the most media-savvy person ever and is playing the American public for all its money and a great laugh. Who knows, the man is an enigma.

I think DraganFox hit the nail right on the head with that one... That's the charm that we find in Avery... After all, he has fans <a href='http://www.ozyandmillie.net/2003/om20030929.html' target='_blank'>(!)</a> too. Someone as hopelessly eager as Avery tends to get a lot of support from other people.<br><br>Unfortunately, it also means we are still a long way from the bottom... The WB currently runs another talent-searching show called "Superstar USA," in which they basically pull this prank on the auditioning members. Instead of looking for good singers, they're looking for the worst ones and convincing THEM they are stars along the way for a talent competition. Just when you thought it was safe to un-mute the TV.

People like William Hung because he's the underdog. They like him as a singer only because they like him as a person. And he respectable kept his cool when Simon totally scolded him. But dang, he's a crappy singer.

He is a nice guy. Just not the best talent. Although I'm in no place to criticize his talent; I'm not much better!

My guess would be he knows he's that bad but is kind of living things up right now. It would be really hard not to realize you were that bad.<br><br>That said, I'd prefer to listen to him than a lot of mainstream music out there these days. There's a difference between crappy music and music that's so bad it's funny.<br><br>As a side note, does William Hung remind anyone of the tone deaf opera singer who works for H.A.R.M. in the computer game "No One Lives Forever"?
<img src='http://www.freewebs.com/skipper007/tsukuyomisig.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' /><br>"I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies"<br>- "Holiday", from Green Day's "American Idiot" album. Also a good way to describe my political views. What, me cynical?
