So, in reading the book, he's actually reading it backwards, therefore unreading it?

The proportions are all off; but that is probably to be expected when people just start out. Yuo have a good base though. Just gotta keep practicing.

I was going to say the head's too big, but, really, it's not too far off from how David draws them nowadays. The big issue I think is that the ears connect to the cheek fur too far from the center of the head, and don't curve in enough, and that makes the head look too big. And the eyes are too close to circular. But other than that, it's really not too far off.

Btw, the squiggly lines and big round eyes remind me of Don Hertzfeldt's stuff.

Yea i thought myself that its not that far off the original, maybe the arms are a bit too thin?

as for those damned squiggly lines, its a side-effect of using a digital tablet :? im tryin to do more smooth strokes when i draw, but its not easy. o well, i have loooots of time to practise :D

The first thing I noticed in the alst picture was the hands. They're really, well, badly drawn. I say, really try to concentrate on hands. After the face they're the part that will express the most visually.

Is the "counter world domination" thing a reference to my drawing in the Doodles topic?

There is a fine line between honesty and just being nice. There is also a line between honesty and rudeness. Sorry about this but I am fairly good at being rude by honesty:
Not very good in my eyes.

I would go farther with that but then that would be bragging. Heres a few tips certified by my High School drawing classes and my College Art classes:

Draw what you see, not what you think! If you are going to draw Ozy, keep an eye on the original and practice the proportions. Also if you intend to copy, again: Draw what you see. Don't draw when you are looking at your paper. You can look but don't draw when looking down. Draw when you are looking at Ozy and work on your hand eye coordination. Another tip: Make good use of pencils, erasers, and felt tip inking pens. Draw sketch, erase unneeded lines, ink, and then erase the junk.

I drew this by drawing what I saw, not what I thought:
http://www.definecynical.net/viewtopic.php?t=4129

You will come to a point where you would become so good that you could draw proportions, clothes, and shadows from your imagination, but that takes loads of practice and experience. I already have the proportions and clothes folding effects fairly done:

http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/4628/monsterch9.jpg

You also need to stop the jagged lines. I use my wrist when I'm drawing curves and it works out with my naturally heavy and hard hand.

No harm intended, just try to do your best and find good ways to make your drawings better, but thats comming from me who drew good since 1st grade :? . Just have confidence.

Chis, you don't suck at cartooning. You are very neat, unlike me.
