Music in comic strips. Not very effective.

Regardless, I am a fan of Ms. Mudd's winning smile in Panel 2.

Especially since she got her daughter to take her authority seriously after all.

The last panel is worded kind of awkwardly but I like this comic.
This strip and the one before it kind of represent a duel between Millie and her mother. Millie, as children do in these situations, invariably loses, but I think they both enjoy the game.

You got to love that she wins the game using Millie's methods.

This made me think of an old Non Sequitor strip where Danae tells her father she is staying home from school in honor of Canada Day. So the father tells her that if she can name the president of Canada, she may take the day off. In the final panel, she is in school, and her classmate tells her, "Jean Chetrien". (I told you it was an old strip. )

If Millie did not clean her room to satisfaction, would her mother force choke her while saying "you have failed me for the last time?
