I actually remember contemplating doing this with a bunch of friends. We were hoping that building a shrine to the Lit teacher would get us out of reading the last chunk of Moby Dick, or something like that. Never had the time to do it.

Now I'm curious how he would have reacted...

It would be a meaningless trophy, an empty mockery to a wasted struggle spent at some point in the past that consumed many hours resulting only in bitterness, lost chances and futile time neither he nor you could ever take back.

Having had to study Moby Dick in school myself, I wouldn't blame you.

Ironically, when Moby Dick was first published, it got negative critical reviews, and author Herman Melville's literary career went into decline afterward. It was in the 1920's that the book became used for teaching in schools.
