I was the worst music trumpet player the whole time I actively played it. Never practiced when I wasn't forced to.

Which might explain why my musical abilities never progressed beyond an 8th grade level. Oh well.

Guitar and piano are really easy. I recommend that everyone with two hours to spare learn them both.

Strangely as Cracked pointed out we don't really have much of an idea of what music sounded liked before the 8th cenutry and the introduction of a form of musical notation, that's a lot of music that we'll never know.

To be fair you don't have to go as far back as the 8th century before a lot of musical traditions and histories get muddied and lost in time.

An interesting story that has always stayed with me and is related to this is the 7th century poet Caedmon who learned to compose and sing after a dream where he was visited by angels.

Yes. Kind of like how we were supposed to feel sympathy for Ms. Wormwood who despite being an antagonist to Calvin was just someone trying to do her job but was growing more and more stressed with that job leading to drug abuse.
