The characters had gotten really short by this time. I think I was pondering the obvious impracticality of the bodies I had given them here.

... well, actually, probably not. I think I was just making yet another attempt to unlock the secret of the visual gag.

I've always thought that was a really out of character thing for him to say. It's an okay gag, but maybe it would work better with somebody else.

I think it's funny that his desired outcome was for there to be no training wheels and therefore nothing to stop the bike from pitching him forward onto the concrete floor.

The handlebars are also too far away it seems. I think it's not the inventor of training wheels but the bicycle that's laughing at him.

I think the person laughing is whoever put Timulty's training wheels on a bike clearly meant for somebody who is much taller then Timulty is.
