Weren't there three switches, rather than five? That kind of huge event does strange things to perspetive, but I maintain that prolonged service as a Bush watchdog is worse in this respect.
The biggest problem is overthinking. This was probably behind the kiss, which in turn cemented the apprehensive feel of the forum and was the definitive one among not-so-many "Oh, pity her" moments. Even the strangest of things can become mundane, as evidenced by the fact that you're alive and typing into a worldwide communication network without being muted with wonder. DCS has been working on the storyline for a long time, so she sees Raine as a thinking being and everything else is secondary. She's certainly depicted as a young girl and an equal. Certainly fellow sentiences would turn the world on its ear, and certainly talking cartoon pets have first-grade implications of discrimination, oppression and superiority. There's a story to be made there.
But you have to let the readers get used to the ideas that are now obvious to you. Otherwise this happens.
My idea may or may not collapse when faced with the ridiculously unfortunate choice of illustration in the following strip.

Give DCS a break!
The comic has been going for months, but we're still very early in the story. I'm not sure why anyone expects a fully-developed comic at this stage.

we expect it because
a) it's not like DCS is new to the whole "writing a webcomic" thing (although she's sure acting like it the past two years), and
b) she made the mistake of trying to release it like a normal webcomic, when it's apparently the kind of thing you need to read in one sitting.
but really, even these first 30 pages or so, even if it IS just the beginning, it's such poor quality most of us would not read the whole thing.

Shut the fuuuuuck upGo away, please...
Personally I think that goes back to overthinking things, look at OOTS, a coherant narative that if you read issue by issue or in one large block still makes sense, still keeps up your anticpiation.b) she made the mistake of trying to release it like a normal webcomic, when it's apparently the kind of thing you need to read in one sitting.

Oh sure it was overly sentimental but it was the cliche wedding ending. Overly sentimental is the only way to pull it off and I didn't notice much change in any of the characters.
The only change in the characters I've ever really noticed is when Ozzy stopped having emotions and they stopped being kids and started being DCS's way of dealing with being picked on as a kid and that happened years ago.

I kinda lost faith in Ozy and Millie when Millie got detention for no reason, cried about it and nothing got resolved. I mean I thought she was going to wrap up the story about Ozy and his being bullied but she didn't even do that ... it was like... what was the point of making Millie cry like that for no reason with no resolve?
