Ms. Mudd used to be the only character ever seen with footwear. And Millie had to have gotten Mr. W. from somewhere. Frankly, if that's her only use for socks, I wouldn't mind washing them.

We know that meat exists in O&M because people have reacted funny to veggie burger orders. Nevertheless, in an essay I can no longer find, DCS said that he rejected someone's idea of Principal Vine taking offense at a beef commercial, primarily because DCS himself finds the concept disturbing (more so with an anthropomorphic steer). As for the anthro versus dumb chickens, well, DCS admits that he hasn't been consistent on whether birds are as anthro as others.

I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.
Math is NEVER overrated. Math is the key to upholding the modern world.
It takes language to build a society, but math and science to build a world.

Why won't I stop?

I'm guessing that DCS decided that Lyndon just got very old very fast. Maybe he came from yet another dimension, one in which natives age in the same direction but more rapidly.
