I noticed that Ozy said he'll get it in 2 minutes and roll his eyes. How ironic that I still don't get it at all...

Hate to explain a joke, but...

Taipei personality is a play on the phrase Type A Personality. A Type A Personality is someone who is always under stress, and has a 'flat' personality, very strict to certain rules, such as Avery with his strictness to 'being cool'.

Type B's, on the other paw, are those who are more free-willed, creative, and philisophical.

Bah. I've been wondering about that too, but it never occured to me to pronounce it. Not sure about anyone else, but I never hear words when I read them.

I believe the problem is that some people (like myself) do not hear written words when reading. At least, the words are not registered by the brain in quite the same way as a spoken word. The spoken word "Taipei" can be interpreted as "Taipei" or "Type A" because they have the same pronunciation. However, there is no such choice for the written word. In essence, I believe the brain is holding the two possible choices - "Taipei" and "Type A" at once, and makes the connection.

Then again, I am not a doctor. Despite what some nurse at a doctor's office thought.

I simply didn't connect Taipei to Type A through the pronounciation. How could I miss that one!?

Hahaha.. it is such fun to be able to read the puns. Anyway, I'm always happy to see another of these fine strips in full glorious color!

Taipei personality... *snrrk* Honestly, Simpson's puns are at least as bad as the ones we fling at each other here. And that's what makes it so fun to make them.
