Expansion?

I was talking to Caigan last night; he said CodeCat has been added to the HouseRules team and, to make up for the amount of strips he's already done, the update schedule is going up to 1-2 new strips a day. With that in mind, I think it's time to bring back and old idea: giving HouseRules its own forum.

Now, I know this has been proposed and shot down in the past, but that was then and obviously we've learned to cope with much more significant changes since then. I think it would be best if HouseRules updates, along with possibly any news about the site, be given its own forum for the sake of tidiness. As far as the moving of threads goes, I'd gladly volunteer for that if you're too busy.

While I'm at it, does anyone else think that non-O&M-related art ought to go in its own forum too? Like, say, under "Everything else"? Just curious. For ostensibly being a fan art thread there seems to be precious little actual fan art.

Interestingly, the lack of actual fanart in the Fanart section here was what prompted me to separate it from the IDT-specific forums over on IRT.
Coincidentally, that's also where we keep Icedragon's colorized versions of the editorial cartoon.

So, if they considers your proposal, that could be one possible implementation (it may not be the best, but that's for the staff here to decide).

Personally, though, I think separating the House Rules strips from the official ones is probably a good idea, since they now take up almost half of the Current Strips forum, and the increased update schedule stands to make it the majority.

Two thoughts:

1. Good, CodeCat finally got in.

2. I'm for a separate forum, definitely. With the amount of new House Rules strips you say will be coming out, they would get caught up in the current strips, and it would just make a whole lot of new threads in the forum. And I personally like seeing all the threads with new posts on one page.

I think it's a good idea as well.

Way to go CodeCat!

Yeah, another forum would probably make sense.

I've thought about moving the non Ozy and Millie art elsewhere but hadn't consulted anyone about it yet. It only makes sense after all. The top three forums are supposed to be about Ozy and Millie. I don't know if they'd be moved to Anything or into another forum.

So how about we get rid of the suggestive category titles?

yeah, at c8world the admins changed a bunch of forum titles to semi-related 4chan folders

Nevertheless, I like the idea of a HouseRules forum. It saves having to build up a whole new user base. We'll just borrow you instead. :P

My layout idea would go something like this:

Ozy and Millie
+ General Discssion
+ Recent Strips
+ Fanworks

House Rules
+ New Color Strips

Everything Else
+ Anything
+ Art Stuffs
+ Forum Games
+ World Events

Alternately...

Ozy and Millie
+ General Discssion
+ Recent Strips

Fanworks
+ General Fanart
+ House Rules

Everything Else
+ Anything
+ Art Stuffs
+ Forum Games
+ World Events

Then there's also the possibility of copying I Read This and making HouseRules a subforum of Fanworks, but subforums scare me.

Definitely going with the second layout. :)

And then you have to address the problem that phpBB doesn't support subforums without the appropriate extensions, and that they don't quite work as subforums even then. Image
