I've been having a lot of trouble getting on the site for the past week and I've been wondering if anyone else is having that problem? I tried posting this yesterday but I lost the page before I was done. (I hope I don't lose it again)

*Jumps up and down* I did it! YAY!

*edit* I'm a dork and there is a topic on this already.
I was trying to think of a signature that would show who I really am...but my head started to hurt so I gave up and this is all I had come up with...sorry if it stinks to a higher power, I'm just not good at these kind of things...see, even this is getting too long and will annoy you

*Wonders off to find a better signature*
Yes, I do apologize for that. There were some ISP issues on the backbone that I wasn't informed of in advance. They had to do some repair work outside in order to get it back up. I am doing everything I can to make sure that last week's episode of craziness doesn't happen again.

I'm Mike btw, Admin for MancuNET.

hey, thanks for the info on that, mike. crazyness isn't neccisarily bad, but it can be annoyng at times ! oh well, variety is the spice of life! (perhaps if i keep telling myself that, everything will be fine. Yeah, thats the ticket!)
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

Lately for me the main page doesn't like to load. However the links in the current strip section usually work, and it seems to be working now, so yay.

<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

Yes it did go down again briefly. At this time I think it would be fair to say that Mancunet at this time runs on a RESIDENTIAL broadband line. And while I do my best to maintain constistency and reliability, ther are certain things that, while not being a big deal to an average home user, do affect certain services, primarily DNS.

MancuNET used to run on at&t, but they have been bought out by Comcast. In mid november, we got tossed off an old IP block and put on an alternate one, and the same thing happened again. Only this time, we're finally no longer on an attbi.com block, but on comcast.net. That means the ip address completely changed. When that happens, it takes up to 48 hours to propagate that address to the world. The worst thing about this is that the ISP does not have to tell me when this happens, so I woke up on Sunday morning to see that the ip address had changed AGAIN

The server itself has been running strong for over 80 days now, and the only thing that gets affected is DNS stuff. This problem of waiting is the fault of the registrar.

In any case, this will not happen again while running on Comcast, as we are no longer on an old block. However, we plan on moving it to a much faster business class sdsl line in January, which will increase the speed 5 fold, as well as the stability of the connection. And besides all that, MancuNET is in very early stages of development, so at this time I cannot guarantee any percentage of uptime, just that I'm doing my best.

So, in conclusion, please bear with us as we prepare to make this migration. And rest assured when we do make the actual move, this site and all others will be notified in advance.

***NOTE: For those that are reading this and have AOL email addresses in their profile, you may or may not be receiving all your mail from these forums. We have been doing our best to make sure those emails that get bounced are getting forwarded properly. It would be best, if possible, to change this to something other than AOL. This problem is a result of AOL simply not allowing any email sent to any account from what is considered a "dynamic" or "residential" location. This will be a non-issue when the connection is changed.

This has been a public service announcement from the administrators at MancuNET.
