Wow, I done anything here since August?

I think it's high time I try to update the Landing Strip. It seems a lot of new people are confused about a couple references we make to O&M and other stuff around here, and so I think a FAQ or maybe a section covering the site's history is in order. So far, I've considered making an official report on the origins of "Ohh.. Shiney", splode, pie, burning stuff, and t-shirts, and so I would like to get some feedback on what else to include, and maybe some pointers into forum archives to the source.

Maybe a brief explanation of users' name changes. There seems to be quite a bit of that here, at least in comparison to other boards I've seen. What I remember so far:

Iyestorm --> Henohenowhatever
Monarx --> Jerry Roosevelt
Jacob --> Linus --> Jacob
Hobo --> Maeglin
Huffamoose --> Elscire
Miles Cerulean Celebi Prower --> Traysandor Vupline
Ozymandias_the_great --> DraganFox

And correct me if I'm wrong but...

Salad Man --> DopplegangeR DooG
Dr. Doog --> SaladMan

Of course this list could be updated by 5h every time another user changes their name. And it would be nice if the "origins report" included links to the threads where the words were first used on the board. That is all.

You should see utopia-politics.com. They change names almost every week.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

No, I guess they haven't. I coulda sworn I saw a Quote bar that pegged one as the other. It made sense considering DoppelgangeR DooG claimes to not be the original Dr Doog. But he is -- a quick check at his older messages confirmed it. As for what I saw the first time, then, I don't remember where it was.

(SIGH...) Now that I've thought it over a little, I realize it was more fun to figure these things out as I went along. Having all this information at my disposal right away would have taken all the fun out of it.

If you do end up putting this information somewhere, I'd prefer it not be in the Landing Strip. Put it in a separate thread or something, with a spoiler warning of sorts. Or...

Nah, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Hmm... you still say I own fuzzycheese.net and It's been gone for a year. think you could remove that about me? not that anybody reads it that often anyway.

oh, and Salad and I didn't really switch. I used to copy other people's signatures and avatars and member titles, because FoxChild and MidnightRealism had done it before and then some other people did it. I stopped, but vowed to copy Saladman eventually. well, I did, eventually. and even after I stopped it just became some gigantic thing between us where I said I was Saladman but Doog took my username so I got stuck with his. Saladman has definitely been a great loss. have any of us ever asked him why he left?

DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

While you're at it, could you correct my website to www.lupinia.us? The old Fusiontech company site died quite awhile ago.

Okay! I made the changes! Namely:

Removed references to Doog's host fuzzycheeze.net,

Replaced the name of the site Felix is hosting to the domain www.lupinia.us, the "New Server" reference to manc.acidchat.net

I think the acidchat servers have changed around too so I might have to correct the part referring to them as well.

Confirmed: Thanks, Zaaphod. Looks like I will have to work on this tomorrow after all.

Tavis: You can remove the link to my board from the Landing Strip... I don't think we'll be having any more server problems in the near future anyway, plus my place is pretty much a ghost town.

I did peek in there a couple days ago, and it looked like someone was still active there. Um.. well, if you really want it removed, okay.

EDIT: Okay, I updated The Landing Strip again to remove the link to Traysandor's board.

The folowing changes have been made to The Landing Strip:

Link to "Planning the Landing Strip" added with review note.

Links to staff profiles replaced with links to Private Message forms to respective members.

Nonfunctional "Report Post" control replaced with PM suggestion.

Orientation removed due to lack of profile editing functionality

Note on old topics expanded and promoted to a new section

IRC instructions also promoted to a new section

SEVERAL links added for Deviant Art, Live Journal, Cafepress, and other DC related materials.

A request for additional links is also added.

Some of these changes will hopefully answer some rather frequently asked questioning topics in the forum such as who has a DA account, who has LiveJournal, where we live.

I tried going through several old topics to find more things that tend to rehash themselves, but got kinda tored after 4am... oh, and since it was 4am typing, I really would like it of someone could point out any errors for me.
