Which is why I abstained. I still think that such an idea is un-wise. There are plety of places to discuse world events if you want to I don't see why this needs to be one fo them.

Quote: (Burning Sheep Productions @ Apr 24 2004, 07:27 AM)

ately there's been a dismal amount of discussion, real discussion.

Why deos talking abotu world events necisraly qualify it as "real" discusion? I think "real" discusion is discusion about things that efect us personaly. How active Chechn rebals are has little bearing on ym day to dya life. Even the day to day events in my countries war on Iraq don't efect me personaly. They efect my consious sure but I've been living wihtout news for a long time now and I for one feal better for it and there's been no lack of "real" discusion ion my life. In fact there's been more "real" discusion.

Let's not overlook the facts.

What do we consider real discussion around here? Certainly stuff none of us care about will promote discussion because it is not something we wish to expend the efforts to understand. I consider it a loss to fail to understand why fighting battles across the world affects us all personally and as a whole. People are willing to die over these things, so it is something to be taken seriously.
Okay, my error.. well, shows even I don't keep up with events well enough to spell proper names correctly and somehow manage to look up absolutely incorrect stuff. The point still stands that things are changing, and ignorance only helps to prevent that change from happening.

EDIT: I'm sorry, but this topic is not the setting for a debate about political affairs and who believes what should be done about it. This topic is about whether Define Cynical needs a place to discuss it. I'd be just as happy not discussing it and letting everyone reach the conclusions elsewhere, but I would like people to try to establish an informed opinion on such matters.
