Fork #definecynical IRC chat room into two rooms

Room 1: Fun, like for the past couple years.

Room 2: Pretty much auto kick-ban for anything you do that isn't like, dry, pasty, academic stuff.

Before I vote I have to ask: is keeping #dc's moderation lax equal to keeping one room, or will there HAVE to be one room where your rules will be instated? If I am voting for "keep one room" am I voting for "Make #dc officially under heavy moderation"?

The question is ether do nothing or split the rooms into the two extremes. If the room does not split I will try to not change anything.

Well that is the whole idea....it would give you a room with even less restrictions than there are today....

I don't see that there's a need for a fork at the moment, but if you decide to do so, I'm for making #dc the less moderated channel.

I'll probably be in both channels anyway.

I'd rather keep it as it is. The channel usually isn't terribly active, and splitting it up would only make it worse.

Ops are not "given" to me. I simply have them.

Simon is hardly ever here. And sometimes he's not even opped in the room. And he's an IRCop. Or at least was.

Spray is simply not an op.

And you make take care to notice that Zaaph, Foxhound and Jerry are all ops.

You mean like it was before certain people decided to lord it over everyone? Yes, split the room so those certain people can run their little fiefdom to their heart's content.

Simple enough. The channel used to be full of anarchic fun, with few kicks and bans unless somebody posted porno links or acted like a total ass towards other members. Now, certain people seem to think they should clamp down on everything and make it not as fun anymore. Let them have their own channel, while the rest of us have #definecynical.

I've more or less stopped coming to the IRC chat, because most the time it's chat I don't really care for, so I quickly become idle for long periods of time.

I've kind of lost my random side lately. I'd much rather chat on a casual basis, using my furry form as needed. I never have been nearly as good of a group[ chat person as I am talking on a one-on-one basis.

On the subject, if someone wanted to split DC up into a seroius discussion, and a random room, that's fine with me.

I think the most agreeable solution would be not to fork it into two different ones but to create a secondary one that people use if the current one is already occupied by spamchat.
This secondary one can be moderated to keep spam minimal so its purpose is retained.
